Coastal Bike ride with mighty Explorers group. (14, 15, 16, 17, 18 April 2016)

Coastal ride of Maharashtra, This journey will surely take you into the hearts of Konkan - The Marathi land secured with waters of Arabian Sea. The journey comprises 5 riders, each on one bike carving out the whole Konkan roads & Monuments.

I was surfing my facebook in the month of march when I saw a poster for coastal ride by Mighty Riders group. I contacted and confirmed my joining. Further were the discussions on watsapp group about journey, sightseeing, exploration, photography and much more...!!!

DAY 1: 14th APRIL 2016

14th April 2016,  finally this date arrived. I woke-up very early around 3:30 AM. I departed from home (Badlapur) at 5 AM. I was expected to reach Panvel at 6 AM. Riding my Pulsar via pipeline road-Taloja industrial area, I cracked our Panvel meet point on 6:10 AM. Two riders, Rag Nagle(Main) - Khargar & Ajay mhatre - Panvel , joined me & we delayed our schedule in Panvel itself. We three initiated from Panvel towards Alibag. Enroute we took a hold a Vadkhal meet point. Our next two riders Manoj Sinkar - Loanavala & Pavan Kamble - Pune, joint us there in. We had a quick breakfast there and continued there after towards Alibag via Karnala Bird Sanctuary. Reaching Alibag city, we took 2 lefts ranging us towards the coastline of Nagaon & here by we catched up our coastline for the way long journey. Crossing Nagaon, Revdanda & Korlai we took small hold at Kashid Beach around 10:30 AM.

Then we continued towards Murud, the coastal view was just a scenario enchanting our right-side vision. We stopped near the Ancient church on Murud borders to clip some scenes. Thereafter, we passed away Murud fort & stopped again for some nature scenes.

We then continued for a couple of kilometres & reached Agardanda Jetty. We spotted few dazzling shots in our DSLRs. Then we loaded our bikes with other vehicles on the Ferry boat. This was my first experience. I captured too many shots in their. The Ferry boat took us from Agardanda to Rohini Jetty.

Rohini Jetty adjoined a snake climb mount to join the coastal road. We smashed our real wheel power to go through it and reached Diveagar at 2 PM.

We opted our lunch in small village adjoining Diveagar beach, post lunch we took a small visit to the beach. The land was a pure masterpiece of grey sand, semi-dusty water taking our eyesight till the bright horizon. We had some shots there, and departed further at 3 PM.

As we were adjoined to the coast route, many beautiful beach sites were swimming around our right ear. We stopped at many places to admire its beauty and the shine gloss of coastal life. En route from Diveagar to Harihaeshwar, we shot some very fine images of sea shores & bird clips at Aravi coast & Shrivardhan beach.

Crossing these attractive nature hurdles, we stopped at Harihareshwar. The temple is dedicated to Lord Harihareshwar, the this land is known as house of god. Beaches here in are very clean & shiny white sanded, but mostly vacant or less visited due to some orthodox customs. We visited the temple, built many years ago, typical hut type monastery, situated prior to small market street. We clipped some goon angles there and departed for our further journey at 5:15 PM.

Our further ride took us till Bagmandla Jetty. This was our second jetty-ride. We loaded our bikes with other vehicles in the ferry boat. Here, I flipped my camera setting n shot some BnW photos, and they were clipped just awesome. Soon the ferry reached Bankot jetty.

We opted a hilly ride to take a view of Bankot fort. The climb ride was for 10 minutes & reaching their, my real tyre got a puncture. It was 6:10 PM & the puncture was a big thing for us, as it was going to consume many time & our riding kilometres. We explored Bankot fort in couples of minutes. Bankot is a small fort, ranged up on a small hill-site & enclosed with water from three side of shores. Here in, we got some good clicks of sea shores & also of the initial sunset moves.

Later, we climb down in the bankot village in a search of tyre repairing shop. I rided my bike by sitting on the petrol tank to avoid tube-tearing. We found the tyre shop & repaired my ride, here by we were back logged by around 2 hours.

We then started riding further, down to Maharashtra coastline. It was around 9 PM, there came a patch of very harsh and carved out road. We started riding this road, initially our rider on bike Honda Unicorn – Mr. Ajay Mhatre got his bike’s chain cover dragged down and out of welding. The scary night, the bad road conditions & the whole body pain made us thought less. But, Our main rider Raj found a nylon strip in his bag which supported ajays bike’s chain cover and we continued tracing our path further. The whole wrecked road foot backed after 17 long kms taking us to a village named Kelshi. We decided to stay there for night & found a decent homestay.

 DAY 2:15th APRIL 2016

Good morning. This was the start of our second day, rose in a beautiful home stay hut in a typical Konkani. All riders carried out their morning activities, bathed & stepped out of our stay. We saw huge coconut trees making a covering pulp throughout our brain, in the sky. The hen’s morning horns, fresh smell from devotional motions & the sweetness dripping out from the malvani talks of the coastal people was just an outstanding experience.

We had our breakfast before leaving the home stay, then we took a 10 minutes quick trail to Kelshi beach, got some healthy snaps there & proceeded further from Kelshi at 9 AM.

Crossing the heart catching scenes on the coastal roads of Ratnagiri district, we were enjoying our ride to its fullest. The coastal ride took us from Aade village region, riding us via many small creek crossing. The scenes were just God gifted. My finger was time to time busy with my Canon.

Later, we reached on the top view of Anjarle beach. The view point was a hill top giving a perfect panoramic view Anjarle village Holdig the sea water to its horizon & a huge anchor in the sea was the precious & hardcore Fort Swarnadurg. Photography was one of essential criteria, which we followed and moved further.

Our further ride took us via Dapoli leading to Tamastirth Beach site. The blue colour of water captured our eye-sight. This beach was beautifully arranged us with low laying shell stones tracing till in the sea, making a majestic view. We had a short cold drink break and moved further at 11:30 AM.

Soon after 14 kms, we were crossing Burondi village, we sighted the huge statue of Lord Parshuram. The Huge God Parshuram’s statue held on a semi globe giving a scary look. It is also true that Lord Parshuram is believed to the a very angry God. Mythology also says that Konkans land belongs to Lord Parshuram “ Parshuramachi Bhumii – Kokan Bhumii”. Having some good clicks, we also took a group photo by helding the camera on ground set on timer mode.

Later, we moved further from Parshuram view at 12. The sun was straight top of us, heat was making water level of our bodies low, continue running of bikes was affecting their fuel efficiency & increasing vibrations. Backlogging all these conditions, we continued further & reached Dabhol jetty at 12:40 PM. We loaded our bikes with other vehicles on the ferry boat. The ferry took us at Dhopave jetty.

Released from jetty, we roared our bikes to its hard via Guhagar beach and reached Hedavi. Firstly we visited a Lord Ganesh Temple, where a found a very old tree of   _________. We captured few photos there. After temple visit, soon we held up our Lunch at Hedavi.

This was the most funny lunch we had, because one of our rider was very excited to eat fish in Konkan daura, we use to take veg plates only but he ordered a supplementary one fish piece for Rs.50, the instance when fish plate arrived, we were just confused by its size and then laugh out alike hell. The fish was sized alike a non-dust rubber.

Later, we traced a 2 kms path backward to visit Baamanghal, a structure made in a rock mountain adjoining the sea where water has carved a fine bracket in the rock inside which water travels, also under it & brust out from the stone when the waves go inside. The photographs lined below will give you a fine idea of what Baamanghal is.

After Baamanghal visit, we started tracing our path towards Ratnagiri by coastal roads. The ride took us at Tavsal Jetty at 5:30 PM. We loaded our ride in the ferry boat and got some healthy snaps, also carried few BnW clicks. The ferry boat took us at Jaigad jetty.

We unloaded the bikes from jetty and reached the Jaigad fort in just 5-6 minutes. The fort entry is too small showing a limited fort area. But the view from inside the fort is a heavy lookout.

Many clicks inside the fort including the entry, tofkhana(room for storing caynons), Buruj – aramgruha(A leisure settlement inside the pillars of fort), Huge vatvruksha(Banyan tree), side-slab walks, made our visit in a Jaigad a memorable moment.

Later, we departed from Jaigad at 5:45 PM and boosted our rides towards Ganpatipule. Enroute, we halted prior to Malgund Beach and captured very fine & heart catching shots. Manoj captured me in a ‘bike riding leaving both hands’ shot. Our bin of memories was full with beauty of Konkan. More few kms ride landed us at Ganpatipule.

The Ganpatipule Temple is a famous tourist attraction due to its natural bounty & also, the sayings are that 400-year-old Ganpati idol has sprung up from the soil, there by worshipped by people. The red-ness of temple stone and a contrast of white in that give you a fine religious & healthy feeling. After entry, the praying stand gives a direct view to Lord Ganesha’s Shrine enlighting the self-confidence within us. We witnessed the sunset soon after the blessings of Ganpatipule’s Ganesha.

Well, it was 7 PM now. We have hurry up now. Our mind was just ready to ride, on a pure hardcore riding. It took around one hour for us to reach Ratnagiri city area. We decided to dinner there in. It was 9 PM, time was spent in traffic, refueling, ATM debits, hotel spotting, dinner, etc. It would have been a good idea to stay at Ratnagiri, but we rodies were planning for our next day’s sightseeing looking a destination near-by it. So our rides begun in the night at we reached a destination called Pawas, 20 kms from Ratnagiri. Pawas is Konkani village famous for Swami Swaroopanand’s Ashram. He was a Great saint, having his life’s very long stay in this village.

Firstly we decided to look out for stay in ashram, but we were too late reaching their. After 2-3 inquries for homestay, we found a small and decent homestay. We got freshened up, discussed a lot about the ride & finally laid down our heavy backs & tired brains.

DAY 3:16th APRIL 2016

The morning at Pawas was a bit lazy gone. Then too, we hurried up & pack our luggage to our rides & departed from the homestay at 8:30 PM. We postponed our breakfast & proceeded straight to Purnagad which a couple of kilometers from the stay.

15 minutes and we were at the doorstep of Purnagad, taking group photo by fixing the camera with proper timer, kept on ground. 1 km prior to reach Purnagad by biking route, is a short sea lined jungle track with no road. It is just a stones full of red soil route. Also a heavy climb for bike, rider should be very concentrate & ruler of his rear wheel. If not, one can suffer alike our co-rider Pavan Kamble faced riding his Fazer from that climb.

Crossing this part, we reached the doorstep of Purnagad. The entry of the fort is made in a limitative manner, as the fort is very small at its whole. At the entry, there is Lord Hanuman’s temple (stucture of Bajrangbali carved in a stone). We took the blessings of Lord Hanuman which gaved us a feel of getting ultra-power for riding the road within us. The fort is secured by the sea from three sides. The view of the & specially Gaonkhadi beach from Purnagad is just a nature’s masterpiece. We clippped many pictures at Purnagad, the fort can be just said as an assembly point fort for soldiers. Maharaj Shivaji has built this fort. The overall exploration gives an idea that, it consist many stepping of its border walls which gives a decent & robust look to the fort from inside.

Later, we continued our further journey towards Vijaydurg fort, One of the lengendary for in the diary of Maharashtra’s history.

En-route, we clicked some shots of Purnagad creek (start of River Muchkundi). Further we had our breakfast at Niveli village. The Legendary Vijaydurg was 55 kms ahead now. We ran our rides to their fullest. After leaving Niveli, within few kilometers I undergone such a drastic situation that, I thought that, I am gone. At the speed 0f 65 km/hr, I side – smashed one jungle goat who prepared to attempted to cross the road. The smash was so tough that my left side front leg guard got a hard bent. I controlled my bike, there was no injury to me & the bike dint stop. All this happened in motion. The second instance I looked in my rear view mirror, the goat got up and ran away. This situation was very close for a drastic accident & skid.

Anyways, we finally reached Vijaydurg at 11:45 AM. The first view we get of Vijaydurg fort, from the road adjoining Vijaydurg trading Jetty. We parked our bikes their and walked a little to reach the foot of Vijaydurg fort. The Legendary fort is too huge at its whole. This ancient fort stands up for his construction period of 1193 –1205. The fort was again reconstructed (increasing the border limit) by Shivaji Maharaj. Presently, the fort rules an area of 17 acres under it & holding 20 bastions, the power strength for the fort.

We assumed a time span of 2 hours to fully explore the fort. We started from the Main gate. The walk towards the main gate is accompanied by few curving steps. The main entrance gate is fixed with strong bull heads, which were used to defeat anyone’s forceful entry in the fort. The entry gives an idea of superior ancient interior designs. After the gate & entry, there are some small huts. These huts are housed by the people, whose ancestors were soldiers & keepers at Vijaydurg. These huts are lined in front of the gate & between them are the small Canon settlements to destroy anyone’s forceful entry. Taking a left we move across the rest house building, straight towards a two optional route. The steps will take you to the border route & the route downwards (looks like a small window) will take you to a narrow but heighted tunnel which opens at the 1st bastion. This rote was used for a sudden / secret transport of goods & people (rulers). We came out from the tunnel back, visited the tof-ghar (a place where balls of canons were stored). Later, we moved further through the border wall crossing every bastion. The total border wall walk was adjoining the Arabian sea. We got too many clicks during this walk. After crossing 70% of this route, we saw a circular motion, attached with a wheel in it, usually used to punish & force the people to push it in circular way. Also we sighted old underground water tank (one sided soil is washed out giving a cross view). We then climbed a little up to see the top of the fort. Crossing to the old border, we reached up & sighted a monastery adjoining a huge water tank (used for swimming, bathing & also for other local events). Later, we walked further and reached back to the point of entry gate. We took a whole panoramic walk of the fort. The walls of fort, it structure, its rocks give an essence of it prime hold for this back 900 years in the history of Konkan mankind.

We came down from fort at its foot, sat & enjoyed 2 full glasses of lemon juice which provided energy to our busted body pain. After this, we walked back to the bike parked region. The famous hotel Mayuri was waiting for us to make our stomach empty to full. We did a very heavy Lunch. Three types of vegies, chapatis, rice, daal, aamras & much more made the taste of our tounge more blissful. It was 3:10 PM, a very high time now to pass 75 kms & visit Sindhudurg fort. We there by decided to roar our rides as fast as we can & possibly visit Sindhudurg, if not then boost directly to Vengurla(Coastal end of Maharshtra – Near Goa Maharashtra border) for night stay.

We were boosting our rides on the air speed, but no one knew that the heavy lunch of Vijaydurg will defeat our team so badly. It was around to be 5 PM, we just crossed Kunkeshwar temple and were riding small climb with usual turns. At an instance, I was on fourth no. ride & suddenly Ajay crossed me with a drastic close cut, and suddenly after last turn I sighted Ajay crashed to a road side standing bike, smashed down on road. Manoj & Pavan reveted back, by taking a rear-mirror scene. Raj was riding too far, so he arrived at the site some 5 minutes late.

We called a tyre person to fix his tyre, this mudguard, headlight was broken bad. We tied it with a plastic tape. His Bike’s front forks bent inwards that increased the dangerous level for riding that bike. We were taking a laughing doubt on Ajay that he slept while riding, but controlled our emotions as the situation a bit serious. Till then the man to whose bike Ajay smashed reached the site. His bike gone for low reparation, Ajay paid them Rs.800 as a claim for his bike’s reparation. The whole situation took the clock till 7 PM. This was a very bad thing for us that we could not succeed to complete our journey. We departed from there and moved few kilometres further and took a stop. As a team leader, Raj took a quick meeting. We all bikers were highly disturbed & exhausted by the back-lined event. So, we took a decision to take a stop for night. My Uncle & aunt’s Native place is Achara(19 kms from where we took our meet). We decided that to take a hold at that house at Achara village.  I visited there last year - May 2015, so I was very known to Achara routes.

I called my uncle for his house, he resides in Mumbai (Achara house is his native place, where he comes with his family every summers). He informed me to contact Arja Mama, his relative in his wadi. Arja mama is my uncle’s relavtive, loooks after his house and is like a family to him. I too nown Arja mama very closely , have met him two time before – once when I went to achara at the age of 7 & secondly last year, when we went achara for a post Goa tour. Arja mama lives in the same wadi (Jamdool) at Achara bandar.

We reached Jamdool wadi, I got the keys from Arja mama, we unloaded our bikes kept all luggage in the home. The home is an old house, adjoining backwaters of sea, typical Konkani with ceiling made of soil blocks. The total house structure was making our eye sight to visualize some coastal horror. Arja mama offered us tea, chips breakfast. We settled our-self, took 3 bikes out & moved for some delicious some 4km away from Achara bandar. Had a delicious dinner, came back to home at Jamdool, Achara bandar & slept in a deep & thirsty sleep.

DAY 4:17th APRIL 2016

Morning was not ready to be waked up, Raj took the initiative woke everyone up. Everyone carried their morning activities. Pavan was amazed by crab catching from the backwaters of Jamdool, Arja mama arrived there and viewed us some huge sized crabs which he caught last night. We had some snaps there by. Later, we were ready to depart from our stay. It was 8 AM and we departed with Arja mama, he took us for a look at Achra beach. One of the clean beaches we saw during our trail, the sound of reverberating Arabian-sea waves, adjoined by a small hill locating a lighthouse tower on it. This blissful morning was such an awesome start of this busy day.

After this 10 minutes visit to Achara beach, Arja mama leaded us to Achara’s  Rameshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Ram. The temple was in a decorative mode for 2 days ago ram navmi event. We clicked few shots there. Later, Arja mama said goodbye & we departed for Tarkarli & Malvan, more ahead towards south.

We reached Tarkarli beach some 10 AM & continued the ride till end of the beach leading us towards the Devbag beach & distant view of Tsunami Island. We had a delicious Samosa break over there, captured some healthy shots, and departed from there towards Kasal to make a giant U turn and join Mumbai goa old highway for our ride back to Mumbai. En-route, we also took front sight of Tsunami Island. The Kilometers showed on bike meters till now was around 750 km (mumbai to Goa is 600 km starightway but we done Coastal ride with lengthy roads, so it coasted us around 750 kms till kasal). From Kasal, the journey towards Mumbai began & we took a halt in Kankavli, for the repairing of Ajay’s bike (atleast to insurt a new head & light for night ride). This procedure took us on a long wait. Ajay’s bike was made least comfortable by just fitting new headlight console.

It was 3 PM and was serioisly a very high time. We aimed to reach Mumbai on 4th day’s night, but it was 3 hrs for the sun to set & we were somewhere near to the south tip of Maharashtra and were aiming to reach Mumbai that night which was seriously impossible. But we are RODIES, we ride by our hearts, our souls, our patience & our concentration. So by skipping our Lunch, we departed Kankavli at 3:30 PM sharp.

We were roaring our ride hell alike beast out from the cage, the two power blowers Thurderbirds….500cc owed by Raj Nagle & 350cc owed by Manoj Sinkar was horrifying everyone by its sound, The style icon of our rides was the Fazer solid gear sp….owed by Pavan Kamble amzed everyone by style, The Pulsar 150 Saffire_blue…. Owed by me caught each once eyes for its godly performance,  the last was the Unicorn owed by Ajay which made us prod to lend Ajay back to Mumbai to broken front forks without any more difficulties.

It was around 6 PM, we reached Sangameshwar (150 kms from Kankavli). This was a heavy breakfast time & so we did. Tea, vadapavs, samoses, cutlets, Bhujiyas and what not. We did a few timepass & I took a thought about the drive that it was seriously not possible for me to complete till Mumbai, same time I messaged up a chat with my Cousin of Pune to ask a residence for tonight if I am not able to make till Mumbai, I’ take a right turn at hold at Pune. Later, we got back on our rides at 7 PM and departed from Sangameshwar.

After Sangameshwar, we seriously did a very hardcore ride, we also fought with the curves of Parshuram & kashedi Ghats. Later after Kashedi ghat we took a hold for a tea break. We cleared our calculations for each one’s share as per the actual basis expenditure.

DAY 5:18th APRIL 2016

Later, me & Pavan took a turn for Pune, Manoj, Raj & Ajay was going to have turn from Pali, leading manoj at Lonavala, & Raj & Ajay at Pavel, Navi Mumbai. Pavan & I reached Pune around 4 AM. Manoj reached lonavala around 4:45 PM. Ajay & Raj reached up till 5:30 PM.

COASTAL RIDE CAME TO AND END FOR MY CO-RIDERS, BUT NOT FOR ME BECAUSE I WAS STILL 140 KMs AWAY FROM MY HOME TOWN – BADLAPUR.

I held at my cousin sister’s place, met my bhoji (sister’s husband) & also my lovely bhaacha(sister’s son) Shriyash. Day 5 just went with some quality talks with sister, some at leisure, and few moments for playing with shriyash.

Later, I departed Pune at 5 PM. Crossing through the Saragbaug & Shanivar wada, I exited Pune and took the hold on Mumbai Pune old highway. The Highway leaded me through Lonavala, Where I captured Sunset of Day 5(Somewhere near Wax Museum – on the highway). Then I chooosed the Khandala way out, because I wanted to capture few long exposure shots. I reached near Waghjai Devi Temple, got few shots of Monkeys & family (showing unity, mother’s love & truth of mankind). A few ahead is the view point where the King roads – (Mumbai Pune expressway & Mumbai Pune Old highway) overlaps each other. The time I reached there was about to get in total dark. I waited for couple of minute, ate snacks and then captured Long exposures shots, which resulted decent but more work to do on Long exposure/Night Photography. Further, I joined the Old highway via Khandala exit/in point. En route, I captured the city of Khopoli, blessed by enlightment of shine.

Later, I crossed the ramp and ride down, the road leaded me to that turn & route which I used for My varadvinayak ganapati Trail, Mahd. IT WAS PERFECT 50 KMs, UP TO HOME.

YES, MY HOME IS COMING …………Was the only tought in my mind. This 50 kms were crossed in 56 minutes sharp via Karjat, Neral, Vangani straight to Badlapur. Reaching home, I unloaded my bike & accelerated the bike to its full expressing the joy & happiness to reach home safely. I moved a hand on the name PULSAR on petrol Tank & walked towards the elivator…

HERE BY COMES THE END OF MY COASTAL RIDE.

ALWAYS REMEMBER,

THIS NATURE IS HIDING ITS BEAUTY BENEATH A LAYER CALLED DANGER, THE DANGER WE FEEL IS JUST A LAYER, CROSS THROUGH IT & GO INTO THE FLOW OF LIFE. PUT YOUR LIFE INTO NATURE, NATURE WILL REBOND YOU THE TRUE HAPPINESS OF BEING ALIVE.
