Hardcore Monsoon Trek to Ahupe Ghat.
This Rocks lies to the north top of Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. Base village for this trail is Khopiwali (16 Kms from Mhasa). I joined up Mighty Explorers team for this trek. The plan was already made firm grip 1 day prior according to watsapp group discussions.
Finally, 7th August 2016 morning the plan engaged from various locations. I was expected to pick Amit Sawant (Travelling from Kalwa) from Badlapur Railway station to Mhasa. Manoj Sinkar was accompaining Poonam Bhandare(Travelling from Pune) from Lonavala Railway station & Raj Nagle travelled on his ride from Khargar & met manoj & poonam at Karjat, finally reaced Mhasa. We greeted each other warmly. It was around 10 AM & we ignited our engines to ride the next 16 Kms from Mhasa to Khopiwali. That was the first instance that Raj's RE Thunderbird 500 showed up a fault to ignite. manoj managed to star Raj's ride & we continued till Khopivali.
We reached Khopiwali around 10:40 AM, parked our rides at a localite's house & started our trek for Ahupe Ghat. Ahupe is a Plateau village settled at a hight of 3900 feets, motorable route to Ahupe from Khopiwali is 85 Kms, while a Jungle crossing, river crossing, into the waterfalls & a 70 to 80 degree cliff can lead you to Ahupe from Khopiwali in 7 KM adventurous trek.
We started the Trek sharp at 11 AM, two localites helped us to cross the river flow initially & later went back. We crossed mount edges, rock patches, dense green jungle walk, 70 - 80 degree tough climbs, walk through waterfall surfaces & finally reached the plateau of Ahupe at 3:20 PM. Goarkhagad & Machindragad seems to be huge as we start from Khopiwali but Ahupe Plateau gives an Eagle eye view of it. The same Gorakhgad & Machindragad looks like ants from Ahupe plateau. We ate our foodstuff, we were all exausted & were planning to take a night stay at Ahupe itself because it wasnt possible to get down before its dark. But our leader Raj, boosted each ones confidence & we started the descend. Crossing the same hurdles we manage to reach the base village at 7 PM.
The overall trek was excellent, our ascend was very slow but too much adventurous. The walk through waterfall surfaces made our shoes wet which was continously making our legs coldblooded. The dense valley scenes were very captivating. The yes the rain, it made our trek truely memorable. Our descend was bit faster but it cracked pain in each ones legs. Hopefully, we met a guy named Shivaji who held us in river crossing while returning as the water flow was inflated as compared by the morning ones.
We came down to the house where we parked our bikes, had a quick breakfast their & made the depart sound. This moment was now to become a serious issue, Raj's TB500 was nt willing to ignite. many villagers came beside us to see what was the problem. It was around 7:15 PM we started facing this situation. We had Poonam who had to reach Pune before 12, we had Amit who was willing to catch the last train from Badlapur of 11:55 PM. This issue of Bike was solved by a local mechanic, he checked the whole bike & also charged the bike's battery with the help of inverter battery. Meanwhile I & Manoj visited a house in that village where people crowded to see young Cobra snake resting in a room. we captured it in our camera. It was 10:15 PM now, mechanic made the Bike ignite succefully. We then departed from there. Soon after 16 KM at Mhasa, TB500 showed up the same problem. It was 11:10 PM & we had no option to think. I & Amit waved goodbye to all inorder to make amit catch 11:55 PM train from Badlapur. This was teribbly not possible because Mhasa to Badlapur is 28 KM village roadwith many rough patches & no Streelights. I boosted my pulsar at her hard possibly made Amit to catch that train at 11:48 PM & i reached home around 11:55 PM. On the other side Raj, left his bike at a villager's house & he, Manoj & poonam made a tripsee ride on manoj's TB350 till Karjat. Manoj left Raj at karjat & took Poonam straight to Lonavala. Their by settled poonam in a passenger train to Pune, Manoj reached home around 3 AM. Poonam reached pune before Sunrise & Raj reached home via Train around 6AM. Amit reahed Kalwa at 1:40 AM. Finally with ots of ups & Downs, our trek schedule came an Happy end.
**Next day Raj travelled back to Mhasa & got his bike repaired neatly, the main issue of his bike was failure of IC.
In such a way, one more trails comes down under my Maharashtra Daura.
Always allow nature to catch urself, he will surely allow you to explore himself.
